Tony Bennett Through the Years

Born in Astoria, Queens, New York; Tony Bennett’s love for music began to manifest and show at an early age. Bennett developed his singing technique and signed with Columbia Records following his deployment as a U.S. Army infantryman during World War II. His first number-one song “Because of You” was released in 1951 followed by his debut album of the same name in 1952. Throughout his career, Bennett has released over 70 albums which has earned him  19 Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, and being named an NEA Jazz Master as well as a Kennedy Center Honoree.

Recently, Bennett has become incredibly busy making appearance and singing duets with some of today’s biggest celebrities. He has released three albums since the turn of the century that includes classic jazz ballads covered by Bennett and artists like Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Tim McGraw, Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble, John Legend, Celine Dion, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and Christina Aguilera. Following the release of the duet albums, Bennett befriend an unlikely celebrity; Lady GaGa. The two sang together before but quickly began working on an entire jazz album where the two belt out hits like “Anything Goes”, “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love”, “Lush Life”, and the title track “Cheek to Cheek.”
