Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode was formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex and consists of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, and Andy Fletcher. Their debut album, Speak & Spell, was released in 1981 and brought the band onto the British new wave scene. Original member Vince Clarke left the band after the release of the album and the bands second album, A Broken Frame, was recorded as a trio. In 1982, Alan Wilder officially joined the band to fill Clarke’s spot. The band became a trio again and has been since 1995 when Wilder left.

The albums Black Celebration and Music for the Masses were the bands last albums of the 80’s and established them as a dominant force on the music scene. The band’s album Ultra was released in 1997 when the band was a trio once again and at the height of Gahan’s near-fatal drug abuse, Gore’s alcoholism and seizures and Fletcher’s depression. The band released the album Exciter to confirm their willingness to remain together. Now the band is getting ready to tour again following the release of their upcoming album titled Spirit which is scheduled to release on March 17, 2017.
