John Mellencamp is from Seymour, Indiana. He began his music career in 1976 when his first album The Chestnut Street Incident was released. In 1979 he had released his first hit “I Need a Lover”. In 1991, he was in his first film debut, where he starred and directed Falling From Grace. In 1994, he suffered from a heart attack and he had to take a few years off of his music career. He later came back in 1996 where he released his album Mr. Happy Go Lucky. His song, Key West Intermezzo, charted at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. It became his last Top 40 single in the US. MellenCamp was nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, and won one. In 2008, he was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Famous singer-songwriter has called Mellencamp “one of the 10 best songwriters” in he music industry.
