The Global Citizen Festival is held yearly at the Great Lawn at Central Park in New York, New York and is a massive celebration that brings together celebrities and civilians alike. Created in 2012, the Global Citizen Festival is used to mark the establishment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs, also known as Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, is an intergovernmental to-do list with 169 goals that will help end extreme global poverty by the year 2030.
The goals are listed on the United Nations Resolution A/RES/70/1 starting on page 14 and ending on page 27 out of 35 pages. Some of the goals listed by the UN are included as follows:
Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
Goal 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Goal 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Goal 7. Ensure Access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
Goal 10. Reduce inequality within and among countries.
Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
After listing all of the goals, the resolution goes on to further expand the hopes and aspirations that each goal strives to accomplish.

Music, Entertainment and Speakers
In the past, the Global Citizen Festival has seen the likes of artists including Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Carrie Underwood, No Doubt, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys as well as many others. The stage has also been opened to the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama as well as Vice President Joe Biden. Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio spoke in 2015 along with Hugh Jackman and Stephen Colbert.
This year has lined up numerous big names to speak including comedian Chelsea Handler, Neil Patrick Harris, Deborra-Lee and Hugh Jackman, Priyanka Chopra, Salma Hayek Pinault and Seth Meyers.
