5 Seconds of Summer recently announced a 2015-2016 tour. After a Saturday, October 24 show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, the band will head across the Atlantic Ocean for a few concerts in the United Kingdom. The North American stretch will officially begin on Tuesday, December 1 in Dallas, Texas with a show at the American Airlines Arena as part of the 2015 Jingle Ball. 5 Seconds initially came together by way of YouTube. They utilized the popular online format as a catapult to the success they experience today. Officially formed in 2011 in Sydney – the epicenter of New South Wales – 5 Seconds of Summer is officially from the “New South,” not to be confused the “Old South,” a cluster of states in the United States known for their traditional ways.
YouTube has spawned a number of major international music superstars, most notably Justin Bieber.
The Canadian youngster was captured on film by his mother during a number of piano solos that soon led to a major record contract. He inadvertently crafted a blueprint that others have followed in the years since, including this group that will likely become the most successful boy band in Australian history.
Hi or Hey Records
Always aiming to be innovators, the group decided to found their own record label in early 2014. The funny and casual name was chosen by a fan vote via twitter in late January of that year.
The idea is that the band will be able to release their own music through this venue on their own terms, while also providing up-and-coming artists with a format to show off their talents. Almost two years into the endeavor, it has been a noticeable success. The business venture is in collaboration with Capital Records, and the group and their business partners will continue to sign hot, new soloists and bands. The group Hey Violet was inked to the label in late March of this year.
5 Seconds of Summer began their road careers with a Mini Australian Tour in 2012, followed by their first ever New Zealand shows in November of the same year.
Their ‘Pants Down Tour’ throughout Australia in 2013 marked the beginning of them being taken seriously as a group. By the time it was over, fans were beginning to make a major stir on social media about the group comprised of four young and talented fellas. When the group embarked on a tour throughout the United Kingdom in February and March 2014, it increased their global stock immensely.
Their first foray into North America was the Stars, Stripes and Made Serve Tour in April 2014. After serving as opening acts to big-time global performers in each of the last four years, the group is ready to headline shows in major cities throughout the United States. The tour will soon be coming within a short drive of tens of millions of fans, and all can find tickets now.
